Novyi Kanal to broadcast recorded version of the Pride of the Country 2011 award ceremony on April 13

Novyi Kanal will broadcast a recorded version of the Pride of the Country award ceremony on April 13, 2012, at 21:50. The 9^th annual award ceremony to honour laureates of the national Prize “Pride of the Country 2011” was organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in partnership with the Novyi Kanal TV Channel and the Fakty newspaper and took place on the stage of the National Opera House in Kyiv on April 5.

The winners of the “Pride Of The Country 2011” are heroes from all over Ukraine who have been awarded in such categories as Outstanding Examples of Bravery (Victor Atamanov); Personal Achievement (Roksolana Dzioba-Balyan), Child Courage (Violetta Kovalenko); Record of the Year (Valentyna Kokyna); Strength of Spirit (Illia Paskariuk); All Together (drivers, who first came to rescue children from the school bus that got into the road accident near Dnipropetrovsk) Sense of Duty (Ivan Lytvynov); Family Story (Svitlana and Eugene Isaev); Rare Talent (Vitalyk Nechaev); Doctor of the Year (Boris Todurov).

The Isaevs – the first Ukrainian family to adopt an HIV-positive child - have been voted the winners in the “National Hero” category, as a result of an open nationwide on-line voting at gordist.org

All winners received memorable statuettes, diplomas, cash prizes and special gifts.

The “Pride Of The Country Prize” is established to celebrate uncommon deeds of common people whose strength of spirit and big heart can make the impossible possible, giving us reasons to feel proud of living in the same country with them. This event sets a positive example for the society, making Ukrainians believe in their own strength, respect themselves and feel proud for their homeland.
