The Victor Pinchuk Foundation presented “Pride of the Country 2011” Awards on April 5
On Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 19:00, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in partnership with Novy Kanal TV Channel and the Fakty newspaper held the 9th annual award ceremony to honour laureates of the national Prize “Pride of the Country 2011”.
A recorded TV version of the event will be broadcasted on April 13 at 21:50 on Novyi Kanal.
During the year, the Public Board of the Prize have been selecting the Prize laureates among people who in critical situations have manifested the best of human qualities and proved with their deeds and lives that our country can be proud of them. The winners of the “Pride Of The Country 2011” are heroes from all over Ukraine who has been awarded in such categories as Outstanding Examples of Bravery (Victor Atamanov); Personal Achievement (Roksolana Dzioba-Balyan), Child Courage (Violetta Kovalenko); Record of the Year (Valentyna Kokyna); Strength of Spirit (Illia Paskariuk); All Together (drivers, who first came to rescue children from the school bus that got into the road accident near Dnipropetrovsk) Sense of Duty (Ivan Lytvynov); Family Story (Svitlana and Eugene Isaev); Rare Talent (Vitalyk Nechaev); Doctor of the Year (Boris Todurov).
The Isaevs – the first Ukrainian family to adopt a HIV-positive child - have been voted the winners in the “National Hero” category, as a result of an open nationwide on-line voting at gordist.org
Currently Svitlana and Eugene Isaev are bringing up two children of their own and seven adopted HIV-positive kids.
All winners received memorable statuettes, diplomas, cash prizes and special gifts.
The “Pride Of The Country Prize” is established to celebrate uncommon deeds of common people whose strength of spirit and big heart can make the impossible possible, giving us reasons to feel proud of living in the same country with them. This event sets a positive example for the society, making Ukrainians believe in their own strength, respect themselves and feel proud for their homeland.
