Juergen Teller, world-known photographer, is conducting shooting in Kyiv within the framework of 52nd International Art Exhibition

A famous photographer Juergen Teller, holder of Citibank Prize for Photography 2003 has arrived in Kyiv to represent Ukraine at 52nd International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia within the framework of PinchukArtCentre project.

Juergen Teller has been preparing his project for the Ukrainian exposition for the last two months and is going to conduct shooting series in Kyiv starting from April 25 to April 27. The shooting is being done in different parts of Kyiv City, in particular: at Troyeshchina suburbs area; at a hotel and flats in Kyiv (including both luxurious apartments and ordinary "Krushchevka" type flats); at the only one out-door sport training facility located at the "Hidropark".

With this shooting in Kiev, Juergen Teller tries to give his own perception and understanding about contemporary society of Ukraine. Ambiguity and contradiction are the main aspect of his proposal how to mix high and low culture, flashy and popular area, beautiful models in amazing clothes and unexpected locations... Juergen wants Ukrainians to look at their society differently and he wants foreigners to break or to amplify all the clichés about Ukraine.

Trash, ambiguous, dark or luminous, Juergen Teller's photography will try to propose a very personal and universal vision about Ukraine

The photographer is accompanied by a team of professionals consisting of 13 people, including a creative chief manager of one of the leading world fashion-magazines "W", models, make-up designers, stylists and their assistants.

In 2007 PinchukArtCentre, one of the largest centers of contemporary art in Eastern Europe is to represent Ukraine at the 52nd International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia within the project defined as "A Poem About An Inland Sea". Famous Ukrainian and world-known artists, creating new projects specifically for the Ukrainian exposition, are: Serhiy Bratkov, Alexander Hnilitskiy and Lesya Zaiats, Borys Mikhailov, Juergen Teller (Germany/Great Britain), Mark Titchner, Sam Taylor-Wood (Great Britain), Dzine (USA).

The Ukrainian pavilion will be open from June 10 to November 21 at the Palazzo Papadopoli, built in 1560, located in the heart of Venice upon Grand Canal.
