Sir Richard Branson, Bill Gates and Muhammad Yunus will discuss how to re-think philanthropy at the 7th Philanthropic Roundtable of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in Davos

On 23 January, 2014 at 12:30 (GMT+1) in Davos (Switzerland) at the Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel the Victor Pinchuk Foundation will hold its private event - 7th Philanthropic Roundtable  organized on the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

This event will discuss how to take philanthropy to the next level: how can social goals be achieved by including the private sector through gathering like-minded business leaders, each with an eye towards changing society and creating a more just and fair distribution of resources.

The panel will feature Mr. Bill Gates, Co-Chair and Trustee of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Sir Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin Group, and Professor Muhammad Yunus, Founder of Grameen Bank, Chairman of the Yunus Center, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate (2006).

Around 400 leaders from the fields of philanthropy, business, politics, NGO and media are expected to attend the event.

The Philanthropic Roundtable is organized each year as a private event by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos to bring together the world’s most renowned philanthropists and leaders from politics, the business community and the non-profit sector. Roundtable discussions address state-of-the-art approaches to problem-solving and seek to inspire the new global philanthropists of the future.

Since 2007, Roundtable panelists have included, among others, Tony Blair, Sir Richard Branson, Bill Clinton, Bill and Melinda Gates, Jet Li, Shimon Peres, Muhammad Yunus, H.E. Background information

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation is an international, private, non-partisan, philanthropic foundation based in Ukraine. The Foundation was established in 2006 by businessman and public figure Victor Pinchuk. Its goal is to empower future generations to become the change-makers of tomorrow. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation supported the neonatal intensive care department of the Cradles of Hope Center in Dnipropetrovsk

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation paid the cost of repairing 2 compressors, 2 monitors, an infusion pump, an aspirator, a high-frequency lung ventilation device and purchased generators for noninvasive ventilation and extension cords for monitors for the Newborns Intensive Care Unit at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Children's Hospital for UAH 151 739.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation purchased sets of internal fixation of bones and joints at a total cost of UAH 907,547.75 for the needs of the Center of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital

The fixing kits were purchased within the framework of the joint charity initiative Ukraine Relief Fund, founded by Victor and Elena Pinchuk and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Eric and Wendy Schmidt and Schmidt Futures, Robert F. Smith and Vista Equity Partners, the Minderoo Foundation of Andrew and Nicola Forrest, Bill Ford and the General Atlantic Foundation, for the needs of the neonatal intensive care unit of the Chernivtsi regional perinatal center, two AVEA lung ventilators of the world's leading respiratory equipment manufacturer VYAIRE Medical (CSHA) were purchased at a total cost of UAH 2,188,700.00
