The Victor Pinchuk Foundation purchased sets of internal fixation of bones and joints at a total cost of UAH 907,547.75 for the needs of the Center of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital

The fixing kits were purchased within the framework of the joint charity initiative Ukraine Relief Fund, founded by Victor and Elena Pinchuk and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Eric and Wendy Schmidt and Schmidt Futures, Robert F. Smith and Vista Equity Partners, Minderoo Foundation of Andrew and Nicole Forrest and General Atlantic Foundation.

Since the first days of the war, the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital has been a support hospital, accepting 24/7 victims from nearby cities: Bucha, Hostomel, Irpen, Makariv and other towns of the Kyiv region, where medical facilities have received significant damage or been completely destroyed. In addition, a large number of injured citizens in need of highly specialized assistance are transferred to this hospital from regions where active military actions are taking place (in particular, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Kharkiv regions). The main groups of pathologies are mine-explosive injuries, penetrating shrapnel wounds, traumatic brain injuries, and others. During February-June this year, medical assistance was provided to 540 patients who suffered as a result of the war. More than 250 people received treatment in the traumatology department during the war. Every day, 20-30 wounded people with severe isolated, multiple, gunshot and mine-explosive injuries are treated in this department.

With the help of the internal fixation systems provided by the Foundation, the doctors of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Center of the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital will be able to provide high-quality treatment and fusion of bones and joints for up to 80 wounded with mine-explosive, gunshot, and shrapnel injuries of the pelvis and bones.
