“Lencom” came to Kiev

Almost all members of the famous theatre crew arrived in Kiev. The tour will last a week and a half

Victoria ARONOVA

The ranks of Moscow theatre performers thinned out a bit yesterday: the crew of  "Lencom" theatre packed their suitcases and rushed for a tour to Kiev.  And if you say something like "How, have they come again?" this would sound out-of-place here: you shouldn't confuse a non-repertory theatre performance with a tour!  "Lencom" paid its official visit to Kiev back in 2002.

"Lencom" is slow to move, in general. For example, yesterday they brought from Kiev to Moscow an almost real carriage and the settings for the "City of Millionaires" performance, in which "you can just live", as Mark Zakharov put it. So, the theatre goes on tours quite rarely.  And even this time the theatre would hardly visit Kiev, if it weren't for a strong request made by Victor Pinchuk, Mark Zakharov's personal friend, who sponsored quite a few of "Lencom" performances. As a result, the theatre came to Kiev for the total of eleven days, with three performances: "Va-Bank" (the latest premiere directed by Mr. Zakharov, after a play by Ostrovsky), "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "The City of Millionaires" with Inna Churikova and Gennadiy Khazanov playing the leading parts. Apart from Inna Mikhailovna and Gennadiy Victorovich, a number of famous actors, such as Alexander Zbruev, Alexandra Zakharova, Alexander Abdulov, Sergey Stepanchenko and Yelena Shanina will appear on the Kiev stage.  Some of them will stay in Kiev for a couple of days, others, like Mr. Stepanchenko, who takes part in all performances, will stay here for the whole of eleven days.

A number of guest actors arrived yesterday, including Mr. Zakharov, Ms Churikova and Mr Khazanov.

The latter did not join the permanent staff of "Lencom" theatre at all. He just helped to save the "City of Millionaires" performance, in a generous manner, as it was once directed specially for Nikolay Karachentsev to take part in it.

"We had versions of this performance with such actors as Gigarkhanyan and Karachentsov.  And, in principle "The City" should have been dead by now, if it were not for the heroic efforts of Mr. Khazanov", Mark Zakharov shared his thoughts with us.

"Well, I keep wandering around various theatres, like a real bum", retorted Mr Khazanov, who looked much thinner than he was before. "Thanks to "Lencom" for giving shelter to me.  And I am glad to come to Kiev - I love this city".

And only the great actress Ms. Churikova (who also looked much younger, by the way) seemed taciturn.

"Come for the performance, and I will see you there", she said.

As it became known to "Gazeta...", the guest actors will live at "Premier Palace", and they are going to take walks around Kiev in their spare time - along the Andreevsky Spusk, and the Lavra, of course.    Although, they won't have a chance to take such walks often - the tour schedule will be far too tight.
