The Victor Pinchuk Foundation Provided Assistance to the “Cradles of Hope” Center in Vinnytsia

As part of its technical support for “Cradles of Hope” partner centers, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation covered the cost of repairing three mechanical ventilators, an open resuscitation system, and purchased consumables to ensure the uninterrupted operation of medical equipment in the neonatal intensive care unit of the regional perinatal center at the M.I. Pirogov Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital. The total cost of the repairs and materials amounted to 130,000.00 UAH.

Since 2013, the Department of Maternal Pathology at the M.I. Pirogov Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital has operated as a regional perinatal center—a third-level healthcare facility that includes a neonatal intensive care unit. Women from across the region who are at high perinatal risk and have complex obstetric, hereditary, and extragenital conditions give birth at the Center. On average, the facility handles about 1,400 births per year, and more than 350 infants receive care in the neonatal intensive care unit annually.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation began its collaboration on the “Cradles of Hope” charity project with the Perinatal Center at the M.I. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation began its collaboration on the “Cradles of Hope” charity project with the perinatal center at the M.I. Pirogov Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital in June 2017, by opening a partner center of the same name within the neonatal intensive care unit and donating modern medical and computer equipment with a total value of 4.8 million UAH. The Foundation systematically supports the “cradles” in Vinnytsia by ensuring the operational readiness of the donated equipment, as well as its repair and replacement of components. During the full-scale war, with funding from the Ukraine Relief Fund, three additional patient warming systems, oxygen sensors, adapters, and cannulas were purchased for the unit, with a total value of 618,083 UAH.

Tetyana Nalizhyta, head of the neonatal intensive care unit: “During the full-scale war, we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of newborns with complex medical conditions who require round-the-clock support and high-tech medical care from the very first minutes of life. That is why the uninterrupted operation of all equipment is critically important—the chances of recovery for our youngest patients depend on its functionality and reliability every single day.”

In total, during the period of cooperation with the Perinatal Center of the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital as part of the “Cradles of Hope” project (2017–2025), 12,208 babies were born at the center, of whom 2,779 newborns received medical care in the intensive care unit. According to the center’s specialists, 2,491 infants were saved thanks to medical equipment provided by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
