Victor Pinchuk Foundation to support winning projects of 2nd edition of “YOU Camp - Youth, Opportunities, Unity”

On July 10-14, 2018, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s Zavtra.UA scholarship programme, with the support of Coca-Cola Foundation, held the 2nd summer camp, “YOU Camp – Youth, Opportunities, Unity” for Ukrainian students. 100 participants – 50 students from temporarily displaced universities from the occupied territories of the Eastern Ukraine and 50 from universities of other regions – came together to develop 12 projects geared toward social integration of youth in Ukraine. Four best ideas will enjoy funding from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

The first place has been won by project “pitBulling” that implies creating an information resource aiming at establishment of conditions for prevention, countering and immediate response to cases of bullying among schoolchildren. The project involved Stella Verves, Andrii Grytsai, Aida Karabakhtsian, Margaryta Koltsova, Vadym Nayko, Kristina Sytnyk and Olga Fokaf.

The second place has been shared between projects “Inspired by the Silence” and “Street XII C”.

“Inspired by the Silence” is aiming at building a society of equal opportunities in the way of an outreach campaign in the context of inclusive education, more specifically: holding master-classes, making sets of indexed playing cards and producing educational videos. The team members are Tetyana Bohdanova, Alevtyna Medvedeva, Serhiy Nasadyuk, Stanislav Slyzhuk, Bohdan Taynolyub, Tyt Andreiev, Vladyslav Uglyarenko, Anton Ukhlin, Kseniia Shepotko and Anastasiia Vapirova.

Project “Street XII C” suggests holding a performance at Poshtova square in Kyiv to draw attention to the historic events of the 12th century and to the issue of destroying the historic memory. The students suggest an innovative art perception of the preservation of cultural legacy places. The team included: Maria Bangrovych, Yelizaveta Bogachek, Maria Zaremba, Maria Kovalska, MAryna Kudaktina, Natalia Pavlova, Natalia Presnakova and Anna Yurchenko.

The third place has been won by project “Turn on the Light” that implies holding educational activities for youth and children focused on safe sex and anatomical and physiological particularities of one’s body. The project involved Lilia Ablezgova, Bohdan Andriichuk, Lilia Davygora, Roman Lynnyk, Vitalii Plokhushko, Roman Plokhushko, Oleksandr Sokolenko and Anna Trots.

The jury that selected the winners included: Svitlana Grytsenko, director of national programmes at the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Denys Gursky, founder of 1991 incubator, Oleksii Ryabchyn, member of Ukrainian Parliament and Olga Chumak, media relations manager at Coca-Cola Ukraine.

YOU Camp continues the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s successful cooperation with the Coca-Cola Foundation. In 2013-2015, the Zavtra.UA Climate Change Camp was organized, enabling Zavtra.UA scholarship holders to draw the society’s attention to environmental challenges and provide incentives to address them.

The goal of the Zavtra.UA programme for the last 12 years has been to create a new generation of change makers: a generation with excellent education and skills, with mastery of the best international practices and ideas; a generation that will think and feel differently, and therefore be able to make an important contribution to building a new country. The programme fulfils the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s mission since 2006 to empower new generations to become the change makers of tomorrow.
