The Victor Pinchuk Foundation Announced the 6 Grantees of the WorldWideStudies programme

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation announced the 6 winners of the 9th competition of the WorldWideStudies (WWS) scholarship programme. They will receive grants for studying at Master's programs in 4 of the best universities in the world. The grantees will also join the WWS community, a group of young professionals who are already transforming Ukraine.

The holders will continue their education in fields that are especially important for Ukraine’s development: agriculture, aerospace engineering, alternative energies, public administration, public law, environment and ecology.

The winners will start their education this autumn in France, the UK and the USA. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s obligatory requirement for all grant recipients is to return to Ukraine and work in their chosen field of study for at least 5 years following graduation.

The grantees were selected by an independent jury in an open nationwide competition. This year’s jury members were: WWS alumni, representatives of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, American Councils for International Education, Campus France Ukraine, Kyiv School of Economics, Sayenko Kharenko and Arzinger Law Companies, etc.

The names of the 2018 WorldWideStudies grantees were announced at the 11th Annual Youth Forum of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s scholarship programmes. Globally renowned historian Niall Ferguson and businessman and philanthropist Victor Pinchuk handed out diplomas to this year’s grantees:

  • Viktoria Aliyeva, Master of Philosophy in Sociology program at Cambridge University, UK
  • Liliia Antoniuk, Master of Arts in Gender, Society and Representation program at University College London, UK
  • Halyna Bocheva, Master of Public Administration program at University College London, UK
  • Daryna Kulaha, Master of Public Administration program at the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs, USA
  • Oleksandr Kushch, General Master of Laws program at Cornell University, USA
  • Mariia Melnyk, Master of International Energy program at Sciences Po in Paris, France.

Since 2009, 108 young Ukrainians have received WorldWideStudies programme grants and studied or are studying at the 55 world best universities in 17 countries. 3% of them are current members of Ukrainian Parliament, more than 52% grantees implement new standards in business on senior and top management positions, 15% grant holders work at state bodies and international organizations, others lead their own companies and NGOs or continue their scientific work.
