First Reunion of Two Generations of WorldWideStudies Alumni held in Kyiv

On Wednesday, December 12, took place the first meeting of the WorldWideStudies alumni who have already completed their master's program studies at foreign universities and returned to Ukraine. The meeting was attended by almost 20 former students who pursued their Masters degrees in the best universities in the UK, Malta, Netherlands, USA, Sweden and Switzerland.

During a three hour long discussion with the representatives of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, namely Deputy Head of the Board Thomas Weihe, Deputy Head of the Board Valeriy Vakariouk and manager of the WorldWideStudies program Yulia Hladkova, alumni shared impressions about their experience abroad, talked about the course of study and its specifics, and about young scholar’s academic and professional achievements. Program graduates emphasized that in addition to new knowledge in the field of study, improvement of a foreign language skills and wide range of new friends from around the world, studying in a foreign country gave them confidence in their own capabilities, brought them to a new professional level and helped to re-discover the world.

Also alumni remarked that currently there is a large number of Ukrainian youth studying in the universities around the world, who have plans to return home after the graduation as they see more opportunities for personal and career development in Ukraine. In addition, through the example of their own experience each of the alumni stated that education in the best universities is possible and worth the effort.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation intends to develop further the community of the WorldWideStudies program fellows and will regularly conduct reunions of the graduates, creating a platform for sharing experiences, discussing ideas and ways to implement social projects, and for establishing a professional network.
