WorldWideStudies presented its work at a roundtable on "Higher Education Abroad"

The WorldWideStudies scholarship program presented its work at a roundtable on "Higher Education Abroad" on October 11 in Kyiv. The event, organised by the agency "DEC education", brought together experts to discuss opportunities for Ukrainian students to study abroad. The panelists also analyzed which impact students who studied abroad can have on the development of Ukraine.

Yulia Burmistenko, coordinator of the WorldWideStudies scholarship program of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, participated in the roundtable. She presented the results of the first year of the program, which sent 17 students abroad this autumn. Also, she informed about which kind of funding for whom is available at WorldWideStudies.

"The roundtable has gathered people who advocate education abroad - and the application of the knowledge gained in Ukraine," said Yulia Burmistenko. "Ukrainian problems cannot be addressed effectively from a purely Ukrainian point of view. A broader frame of mind is needed. Ukraine is integrated in the global economy and can tackle its challenges only if we think on a global level and open up to the world. The best way of opening up is to study abroad, at the world's top universities. Today's discussion showed that not only Ukrainian students want to go abroad, but international universities are also very interested in attracting our students. Therefore we are glad that the WorldWideStudies program helps Ukrainians to study at the world's best universities."

Among the participants of the roundtable were also Natalia Tarchenko, Director of "DEC education", Victoria Mykhailenko, advice center manager at the American Councils, Martin Maule, City University London, Stuart Perrin, Queen Mary University of London, Olga Dorosh, coordinator of the "Campus France" bureau in Ukraine, and Veronica Kustenko, representative of Griffith University in Ukraine.

The panelists discussed how the preferences of students on education abroad will develop, the level of Ukrainian students, how to promote education abroad and how the landscape of education worldwide will change in the future.
