PinchukArtCentre has presented Selection of Contemporary Photographs from the Sir Elton John Collection

On Thursday, June 14, Kyiv PinchukArtCentre hosted a media preview of "An Instinctive Eye: A Selection of Contemporary Photographs from the Sir Elton John Collection". Jane Jackson, director of the Sir Elton John Photography Collection attended the media preview.

During the media preview, Jane Jackson pointed out that "Many persons had been making requests to Elton John for arranging an exhibition of the photographs from his collection". However, he would always reject such suggestions, since those photographs are not just a collection but something very intimate. Nevertheless, due to the close friendship with Victor Pinchuk and to the importance of the activity performed by PinchukArtCentre in facilitating contemporary art in Ukraine, Eldon John has agreed to display his photographs in Kyiv".

The exhibition presents a selection of 148 illustrations of images by 24 world-renowned contemporary photographers, selected by Elton John and his partner David Furnish. Most of the photographs, around 100 pieces, have been brought to Kyiv from Elton John's apartment in Atlanta, and the rest - from his house in London. The exhibition in PinchukArtCentre will showcase prints made by David LaChapelle, Nan Goldin, Zhang Huan, Sam Taylor Wood, Rineka Dijkstra, Loretta Lux, Ruud Van Empel, Hiroshi Sugimoto and others.

The exhibition is open for visitors 12:00 June 16 through 12:00 August 12 2007.
