Exhibition of PinchukArtCentre among the top-three most anticipated events at Biennale 2007

"A Poem about an Inland Sea" show represented by PinchukArtCentre in the Ukrainian pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale is one of the three top-events of the Venice Biennale 2007. So said Francesco Rutelli, the Minister of Culture of Italy during conversation with Dmytro Tabachnyk, the Vice-PM of Ukraine for Humanitarian Affairs, on June 7 in Venice.

Commenting Ukraine's participation in the 52nd Venice Biennale during the official opening of the Ukrainian pavilion, Dmytro Tabachnyk pointed out: "This is a step forward to turning Ukraine into a capital of contemporary art". He particularly noted works produced by Serhiy Bratkov. According to the Vice-PM, they symbolize "hymn to Ukraine, love and life".

The President of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Andriy Chebykin, while delivering speech at the opening of the Ukrainian pavilion, pointed out that Ukraine's participation in Biennale 2007 "has consolidated the State's support with private initiative, and it was a very important fact that would facilitate development of contemporary art in Ukraine". In his comments about "A Poem about an Inland Sea" show the President of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine said that "through the exhibition we did not put a question but we have answered it in a clear voice. "We are Ukrainians! What else matters?"

As was reported earlier, the opening ceremony of the Ukrainian pavilion is being held in Palazzo Papodopoli, Venice. The ceremony was attended by the Vice-PM of Ukraine for Humanitarian Affairs, Dmytro Tabachnyk, Minister for Culture and Tourism of Ukraine, Yuri Bohutskiy, the founder of PinchukArtCentre, Viktor Pinchuk, and the president of PinchukArtCentre, Peter Doroshenko.
