Ukraine: Future’s Frontline
The project “Ukraine: Future’s Frontline” took place on 19-22 January, 2026, on the occasion of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos (Switzerland).
The project included an exhibition and discussion program focused on Ukraine as a testing ground for the future of security, innovation, and reconstruction.
As part of the exhibition, works by Ukrainian artists Oleksii Sai, Yarema Malashchuk, and Roman Khimei were presented, alongside Damien Hirst’s The Incomplete Truth. The exhibition addressed the risk of war spreading to Europe while stressing the need for peace through strength. A portrait of Ukraine at the frontline of innovation as well as the best line of defence for Europe’s future.
Among the participants of the project’s opening were: Victor Pinchuk, Ukrainian businessman and philanthropist; Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine; Elina Valtonen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, and Yevhen Hrytsenok, Senior Officer of the Electronic Warfare Department, 7th Air Assault Corps.
Among speakers of the discussion program were: Chrystia Freeland, Adviser to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on economic development; Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director, IMF; Ajay Banga, President, World Bank Group; Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine; Odile Renaud-Basso, President of EBRD; Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Economy and Productivity; Implementation and Simplification, European Commission; Andrius Kubilius, Commissioner for Defence and Space, European Commission; Keith Kellogg, Lieutenant General (Ret.), U.S. Army; Kajsa Ollongren, EU Special Representative for Human Rights; Kersti Kaljulaid, President of Estonia (2016-2021); Oleksii Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine; Yehor Cherniev, Member of Parliament of Ukraine, Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO PA; Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway; Moritz Schularick, President, Kiel Institute for the World Economy; Balázs Nagy, CEO and Co-Founder, TYTAN Technologies; Sir Niall Ferguson, Senior Fellow, Hoover Institution, Stanford University; Oleksandr Kamyshin, Advisor for Strategic Issues, JSC "Ukrainian Defense Industry"; Sofie Stoffel, Research Fellow, Global Public Policy Institute; Oleksandra Matviychuk, Head of the Center for Civil Liberties, and other distinguished speakers.
Ukraine’s defenders – soldiers and veterans - also joined the discussions: Oleksii Anulia, PoW, veteran; Kyrylo Berkal, Deputy commander of the Third Army Corps; Olga Bondarenko, PoW, an officer in the Support Unit for former POWs at the National Guard of Ukraine’s Center for Operational Psychological Support; Ivan Nakonechnyi, marine, Commander of Reconnaissance Squad, Military Unit A2777.
