3rd Ukrainian Lunch in Davos: “Where is Ukraine heading?”

On Friday, January 26, 2007, within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos, investment and consulting company "EastOne" and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation held the 3rd luncheon "Where is Ukraine heading?” In the course of the discussion, the lunch guests evaluated the economic, energy-related and geopolitical challenges Ukraine and the world are facing. The Ukrainian Prime Minister Victor Yanukovych, Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Olli Rehn, Former President of Poland Alexander Kwasniewski, First Deputy Chief of the Ukrainian Presidential Secretariat Arseniy Yatsenyuk, George Soros, Chairman of the Russian Bank for Foreign Trade Andrei Kostin and Former French Minister of Economy, Industry and Finance Dominique Strauss-Kahn took part in the discussion, which was moderated by Victor Pinchuk. About 300 guests attended the meeting. President Clinton who had to cancel his appearance in Davos greeted the participants in his video address. Alexander Kwasniewski, also a member of the Yalta European Strategy Board, presented the results of a new survey conducted on the request of YES in Europe by TNS-Sofres, about Ukraine joining the EU. Held for two years already, the Luncheon dedicated to issues of economic and political development of Ukraine has become a traditional event within the Davos Forum. Every year representatives of world business and political elites take part in the discussion of problems related to economy, energy preparedness, investment climate and modern political environment of Ukraine.
