Beta-version of the project "Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace" has been launched

Ukrainian Philanthropy Marketplace beta launchThe Victor Pinchuk Foundation has announced the launch of the beta-version of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace. This project is one of the foundation's first social investments in the area of online-philanthropy.

The Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace is a new philanthropic infrastructure in Ukraine. Its mission is to support and develop philanthropy through active lobbying for citizens to get involved. This will be achieved by creating trust for social projects through transparency, promoting philanthropy among Ukrainian citizens and making giving accessible, quick and efficient.

Victor Pinchuk: “Today philanthropy means that everybody can get involved to help others. This is one of the most positive trends of the past decades. We have seen that even small donations can profoundly affect persons or societies if thousands or millions make such donations. Ukraine must not stand on the sidelines of this key development.  Our society has a tremendous potential for trust and mutual help. We see it as our task to harness this potential.”

At the core if the project is a web-platform that starts operating today as beta-version. It will be supported by partnerships with leading Ukrainian media. Thus, the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace will link potential donors with philanthropic projects of Ukrainian NGOs.

Recipients of the funds raised via the Philanthropic Marketplace are, among others, individuals, orphanages, art and sports groups. The projects include support for medical care for children, help for homeless people, animal protection, educational programs and programs for the social integration of vulnerable groups.

Today, the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace has registered projects from over 30 NGOs. 100% of donations will reach the projects. At the present stage, Marketplace infrastructure costs are entirely covered by a grant from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

To place projects on the Philanthropic Marketplace, NGOs undergo an intensive verification procedure. Also, the Marketplace will provide a system of public control over project implementation and use of funds, based on the principles of Web of trust that allows anyone to become an “advocate” or “inspector” of any given project.

Registered as an international philanthropic foundation, the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace will raise funds worldwide for Ukrainian social projects and is open for partnerships with foundations, private donors and media throughout Ukraine and the world.
