Victor Pinchuk: philanthropy and high technologies are able to revolutionise education

Opening the 3rd Davos Philanthropic Roundtable, entitled "HI-TEACH = High-Tech + Education + Philanthropy", the Ukrainian businessman and public figure Victor Pinchuk said that a combination of the philanthropists' joined efforts and the latest achievements in the hi-tech industry can provide an impulse for a new revolution in education and have an effect on the modern world development in general.

"The revolution in the hi-tech area has ultimately changed our vision for the opportunities of having access to education and significantly influenced the global economy", he noted. "By bringing together the breakthroughs in the information and communication technology and education, philanthropists can achieve tangible results and help resolve the issue of access and quality of education in developing countries. The outcome will be astonishing."

According to Mr. Pinchuk, all preconditions for such "HI-TEACH revolution", which expects philanthropists to help introduce new technology in education, do exist today.

"The technological solutions are already there. Demand is already there, and it's obvious. What we need is our vision, creative thinking and determination to realize concrete projects", he underlined, expressing his hope that public figures and education representatives at the Round Table will not only inspire the event participants but also share some specific ideas.
