The Victor Pinchuk’s Foundation to hold The Philanthropic Roundtable in Davos

Within the days of World Economic Forum in Davos The Victor Pinchuk Foundation holds the Philanthropic Roundtable which aims at development of philanthropic projects in Ukraine. It is the first thematic philanthropic event to be hosted by Ukraine in Davos. The Roundtable Discussion is held on January, 24th in the Conference Hall of DerbyHotel Davos. The event format is a free discussion.

"Philanthropy may and should become one of the key factors of social progress in Ukraine", emphasized the founder of the Foundation, Ukrainian businessman and philanthropist Victor Pinchuk. "But this may only become possible on the condition of the widest possible range of philanthropists' involvement into such activities, as well as implementation of systematic and professional approach to philanthropic projects that would assure achieving real and sound results for the entire society, entire country. The world leading philanthropic organizations have accumulated the enormous experience in implementation of such an approach for the last decade, and Davos Philanthropic Roundtable has been initially intended as the point of sharing the experience, the best world practices and global philanthropic strategies. That is why we have invited and expect a participation of Ukrainian philanthropy activists, businessmen and social leaders. The best result of the event is appearing of new philanthropists and new social projects in Ukraine".

The key speakers at the Roundtable Discussion are a founder of Open Society Foundation George Soros, The Economist Magazine's Editor Mathieu Bishop, President of Global Health Program within Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Dr. Tadataka Yamada, the Head of Ukraine 3000 Foundation's Observation Committee Kateryna Yushchenko, CEO of Clinton's Global Initiative Robert Harrison. The moderator of the discussion will be the President of Aspen Institute, former CNN President Walter Isakson.

The main topics of Roundtable Discussion will be the problems of achieving the long-term effects of philanthropic activities, estimation of its results, relations between philanthropic organizations and state bodies, as well as development of philanthropy within the regions of "emerging economy", including Central and Western Europe.

Also within the framework of World Economic Forum is Davos, for the fourth time now, "EastOne" Investment-Consulting Company and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation host the traditional Ukrainian Lunch-Conference. The topic of Conference-2008 is as follows: "Ukraine. What`s next?". The Conference is held on January, 25th at Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel.
