Cradles of Hope: NEWS

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation provided support to four partner Cradles of Hope centers in Kyiv, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, and Kropyvnytskyi.

The Foundation covered equipment repair services and purchased components for neonatal intensive care units at the Cradles of Hope partner centers based at the Kyiv Perinatal Center, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Medical Center for Family Health, the Kirovohrad Regional Hospital, and the Khmelnytskyi Regional Hospital, with a total value of 572,000 UAH. The donation included flow sensors and breathing circuits for ventilators, temperature and pulse oximeter sensors, and other consumables.

The Foundation continues to systematically support the Cradles of Hope centers, annually allocating funds for equipment repair, spare parts, and consumables to ensure uninterrupted operation. During the war, this assistance was significantly strengthened, especially for medical facilities located near the front line or serving large numbers of internally displaced persons.

The Kyiv Perinatal Center, since its opening, has borne the main responsibility in Kyiv and the region for handling the most complex cases of miscarriages, pregnancy pathologies, and care for premature and critically ill newborns. From the first day of the war, the center has continued to provide highly specialized medical care to women and newborns. During 2022-2025, more than 12,000 babies were born there, with 1,204 newborns requiring intensive treatment and prolonged care in the neonatal intensive care unit. During 2022-2025 with support from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the Ukraine Relief Fund partners, the center received an electroencephalograph and three infant warming systems worth a total of 2.1 million UAH.

The Perinatal Center of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Medical Center for Family Health has been a Cradles of Hopepartner since 2012. Today, under conditions of full-scale Russian military aggression, the facility is located in close proximity to the combat zone and provides 24/7 medical care to women and children from occupied and high-risk areas. During 2022-2025, nearly 8,000 babies were born there, of whom 513 required prolonged treatment in the intensive care unit. During wartime, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation together with Ukraine Relief Fund partners supplied this center with a transport incubator, a transport ventilator, and three infant warming systems worth a total of 1.62 million UAH.

The perinatal centers at the Kirovohrad and Khmelnytskyi regional hospitals have been Cradles of Hope partners since 2012 and 2013, respectively. These are the only Level III perinatal centers in their regions, concentrating almost all premature births in Khmelnytskyi and Kirovohrad oblasts. Each year, over 1,500 babies are born in these centers, about 10% of whom require neonatal intensive care. Both regions have also become new homes for internally displaced persons from occupied and frontline territories of Ukraine. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation and Ukraine Relief Fund partners supplied these centers with five infant warming systems worth a total of 0.9 million UAH.

Thanks to this assistance, all four Cradles of Hope partner centers will be able to closely monitor infants’ conditions, take timely measures, provide high-quality medical care, and save the lives of Ukrainian children.
