The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided support to the Vinnytsia centre ‘Cradles of Hope’

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation, as part of its technical support to the Cradles of Hope partner centres, has covered the cost of repairing the newborn incubator and purchased consumables to ensure the smooth operation of the medical equipment at the neonatal intensive care unit of the Vinnytsia Oblast Perinatal Centre at the Pirogov Regional Clinical Hospital. The total cost of the repairs and materials was UAH 181,215.00.

Since 2013, the Department of Pregnancy Pathology at the Pirogov Vinnytsia Oblast Clinical Hospital has been operating as the Oblast Perinatal Centre, a third-level medical facility with a neonatal intensive care unit.  Women from the high perinatal risk group with complicated obstetric, hereditary and extragenital pathologies from all over the region give birth at the Centre. On average, the total number of deliveries at the centre is about 1,400 a year, and 250-300 babies receive care in the neonatal intensive care unit each year.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started cooperation under the Cradles of Hope charitable project with the perinatal centre of the Vinnytsia Oblast Clinical Hospital named after M.I. Pirogov in June 2017 by opening a partner centre of the same name on the basis of the newborn intensive care unit and donating modern medical and computer equipment worth UAH 4.8 million. The Foundation systematically supports the Vinnytsia ‘cradles’ in terms of ensuring the operability of the transferred equipment, its repair and replacement of components. During the full-scale war, the Ukraine Relief Fund additionally purchased 3 patient heating systems, oxygen sensors, adapters and cannulas for the unit, worth UAH 618,083.

Tetiana Nalizhyta, head of the neonatal intensive care unit: ‘Thanks to the repairs and components for artificial lung ventilation devices and monitoring equipment, the unit can fully provide care to young patients. Over the past three years, we have seen a significant increase in the number of young patients requiring intensive care, so the smooth operation of the equipment is vital.  Once again, we would like to thank the Victor Pinchuk Foundation for its constant attention to our institution and reliable support.’

Over the period of cooperation with the Vinnytsia Oblast Clinical Hospital's perinatal centre under the Cradles of Hope project (2017-2024), 10,811 babies have been born at the centre, including 2,406 newborns who received medical care in the intensive care unit. According to the centre's specialists, 2 144 babies were saved thanks to the medical equipment provided by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
