The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided assistance to the Cradles of Hope partner centre in Zaporizhzhia
The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has paid for the repair of equipment for the neonatal intensive care unit of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast Perinatal Centre in the amount of UAH 170 811.00.
Five lung ventilators, three monitors, seven syringe infusion pumps and an incubator were repaired. The assistance was provided as part of the ongoing support to the Cradles of Hope network of partner neonatal centres to ensure the smooth operation of medical equipment, which is an extremely important component of the treatment process and the rescue of babies in critical conditions.
The Zaporizhzhia Oblast Perinatal Centre, established on the basis of the former city maternity hospital No. 5, started its work in December 2013. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation contributed to the establishment of the centre by equipping the neonatal intensive care unit for over UAH 3.8 million. Since the beginning of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, the facility has been operating under heavy load due to the large flow of pregnant women from the regions where active hostilities are taking place and the regions occupied by the enemy. During this period, the neonatal intensive care unit treated more than 350 babies, including 263 prematurely born. Most of them received respiratory support and needed constant monitoring of vital body functions and parenteral nutrition.
During 2022-2024, the Foundation additionally purchased a transport incubator with a ventilator and 3 patient heating systems with a total cost of UAH 1.62 million as part of the funding from the Ukraine Relief Fund.
Almost 3,000 babies have been saved at Zaporizhzhya Oblast Perinatal Centre during the partnership with the Cradles of Hope project.
