Victor Pinchuk Foundation has helped with replacement of ultrasound transducer at Cradles of Hope centre in Kyiv Perinatal Centre

Continuing the efforts for systemic support of the Cradles of Hope partner centres, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation has helped to purchase a new ultrasound microconvex transducer for the Kyiv Perinatal Centre by providing an amount of UAH 75 000 for that purpose. The transducer will be used for ultrasound examinations at the infant intensive care unit.

The Kyiv Perinatal Centre - to the establishment of which the Victor Pinchuk Foundation contributed under the Cradles of Hope programme in 2012 - is specialized in preterm deliveries and nursing preterm newborns. Every year, about 7000 deliveries are hosted at the Centre, and more than 450 babies get treatment at the intensive care unit.

Viktoria Bila, chief medical officer: “We are sincerely thankful to the Foundation for the longstanding and many-sided help. The opening of the Cradles of Hope centre in 2012 on the base of our establishment was a new landmark in providing medical help to preterm infants. Now, the Kyiv Perinatal Centre is the biggest delivery facility in the country, and we are willingly sharing our experience with specialists from other regions. Over these years, a powerful service for high specialization and multidisciplinary help to preterm infants with low and extremely low weight has developed. Our preterm babies’ survival rates are comparable with the respective figures in developed countries”.

Overall, during the period of partnership with the Kyiv Perinatal Centre under the Cradles of Hope project, 51 026 babies have been born in the centre, including 3 697 newborn who received help in the intensive care unit (whereas 505 with extremely low weight between 500 and 999 gram at birth). According to the specialists of the centre, it has become possible to save 3029 babies, among other, thanks to the medical equipment provided by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

The overall investment of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in the Kyiv Perinatal Centre during the whole period of cooperation (2012 – August 2019) has amounted to UAH 4 638 901 (including UAH 334 895 refurbishment works and purchase of expendables).
