The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has covered the cost of repair of compressors for the Cradles of Hope partner centre in Ivano-Farnkivsk

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has funded the repair of two compressors that support the functioning of artificial lungs ventilation devices for the Cradles of Hope centre operating on the base of the newborn intensive care unit at the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Perinatal Centre. Now, the compressors operate again and continue assuming their important function. The overall cost of the reparation works is UAH 51 966.

The Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Perinatal Centre is a leading delivery medical facility in the oblast that accommodates all women with heavy obstetrical and gynecological pathologies. As an average, 3400 to 3500 babies are born at the centre every year. 450 to 500 infants receive medical help at the infant intensive care unit every year, including almost 70% who are babies who were born preterm and need a sophisticated and long treatment.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started cooperating with the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Perinatal Centre under the Cradles of Hope project in 2008, when it provided the establishment’s family planning centre with an expert class ultrasound scanner, a fetal monitor to observe the fetus’ heartbeat and a computer workstation with peripheral hardware of an overall value of UAH 490 152. In 2009, we bought and handed to the oblast perinatal centre’s newborn intensive care unit a non-invasive artificial lungs ventilation device, an open newborn nursing device, patient monitor, a phototherapy light and other auxiliary equipment of an overall value of UAH 345 280. Additionally, repairs were carried out and expendables were bought for an overall amount of UAH 114 504.

Liubov Kolosovska, newborn intensive care head: “To as, as well as to many other perinatal centres, support from philanthropists is of an extreme importance. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation had helped us het advanced equipment to diagnose and save preterm babies once, and since then, it has been remaining supportive for already almost 8 years by providing a continued technical and educational assistance to our centre.”

Over the period of cooperation with the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Perinatal Centre under the Cradles of Hope project (2008 – 1st semester 2018), 31 098 babies were born at the centre, including 4 264 who have been treated in the intensive care unit. According to the centre specialists, more than 1200 infants were saved thanks to the equipment supplied by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
