The “BDayVyklyk: first breath” project has handed a breath resuscitator to the Cradles of Hope Centre in Sumy

Under the charity project “BDayVyklyk: first breath” initiated by Ukrainian Kateryna Sadova, the ninth infant breath resuscitator NeoPuff TM RD-900 has been purchased for the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s Cradles of Hope partner centre operating on the base of the Sumy Oblast Clinic Perinatal Centre. The amount of UAH 125 365 to buy the device was provided by HelpBank and Manus Dei charities the representatives of which handed the resuscitator on the 21^st of August to the centre collective.

UAH 1 132 223 has been collected under the “BDayVyklyk: first breath” project that is implemented with support of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace international charity foundation. 9 devices have been purchased by now for Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Uzhgorod, Chernihiv, Khmelnytsky, Odessa, Kropyvnytsky, Vinnytsia and Sumy. Additionally, it is planned to install NeoPuffs at Cradles of Hope partner centres in Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Kyiv, Poltava, Rivne, Khmelnytsky and Cherkassy. The project can be supported on the web site of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace.

This wonderful initiative has brought together many good people who care about the destiny of preterm babies. It has provided us, health workers, with wider professional capacity to ensure timely and quality medical help, and it has given a chance to our little patients to survive and grow up healthy”.

The Sumy Oblast Clinic Perinatal Centre, reorganised out of the Oblast Clinic Maternity 2 in December 2001, assumes the functions of a third level specialized high-quality help medical establishment where best perinatal techniques are actively introduced. High pregnancy risk group women from the whole region having complex obstetrical and genetic pathologies deliver at the centre. The average number of deliveries is 3000 yearly. The number of preterm deliveries is increasing every year, and therefore the number of the preterm infants with an extremely low weight (600 to 999 gram) grows. Help to gravest case babies is provided in the intensive care unit where up to 250 infants are treated every year as average. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation contributed to the upgrade of this unit in 2010 by opening on its base its 20^th partner centre of Cradles of Hope and handing to it advanced medical equipment to save and nurse preterm infants of an overall value of UAH 1.3 million.
