The “BDayVyklyk: first breath” project has handed a breath resuscitator to the Cradles of Hope Centre in Vinnytsia

Under the charity project “BDayVyklyk: first breath” initiated by Ukrainian Kateryna Sadova with support of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, the eighth infant breath resuscitator NeoPuff TM RD-900 has been purchased for the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s Cradles of Hope partner centre operating on the base of the Pirogov Vinnytsia Oblast Clinic Hospital. The amount of UAH 125 365 to buy the device was provided by HelpBank and Manus Dei charities.

UAH 1 006 607 was collected under the “BDayVyklyk: first breath” project that is implemented with support of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace international charity foundation. 8 devices have been purchased by now for Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Uzhgorod, Chernihiv, Khmelnytsky, Odessa, Kropyvnytsky and Vinnytsia. Additionally, it is planned to install NeoPuffs at Cradles of Hope partner centres in Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Kyiv, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Khmelnytsky and Cherkassy. The project can be supported on the web site of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace.

Tetiana Nalizhyta, head of the newborn intensive care unit: “Our whole team is happy to enjoy the wonderful gift form the “BDayVyklyk: first breath” project and all the people who care and who have initiated, supported and contributed to the fundraising to buy the breath resuscitators. We seek to be moving forward and implement new methods and techniques that improve the process of treating and nursing the little patients at our centre. The NeoPuff device is another modern tool enabling breath support for preterm babies at their first minutes of life that often helps avoid using the conventional artificial ventilation that is more traumagenic for the children.”

The Vinnytsia Perinatal Centre was established on the base of Pirogov Vinnytsia Oblast Clinic Hospital in 2012 under the governmental programme for perinatal service regional development. The aforementioned medical establishment assumes the major load of deliveries from high risk group women and early deliveries. As an average, 1500 babies are born there every year. The number of preterm deliveries is increasing every year, and therefore the number of the preterm infants with an extremely low weight (600 to 999 gram) grows. Help to gravest case babies is provided in the intensive care unit where almost 350 to 400 infants are treated every year as average. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation contributed to the modernising of this unit in 2017 by opening on its base its 33^rd Cradles of Hope partner centre and providing it with up-to-date medical equipment to rescue and nurse preterm babies valuing more than UAH 4.8 million.
