The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has covered the cost of repair of the air supply core compressor for the Chenivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided support to the Cradles of Hope partner centre operating on the base of the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital, covering the cost of repair of the air supply system core compressor for an amount of UAH 61 597.

The breathing support for patients of the newborn intensive care unit relies on the functioning of the medical gas supply system that was installed in 2008, with the help of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. Therefore, the Foundation immediately responded to the request from the partners regarding the need to urgently have certain parts of the compressor replaced.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started its cooperation with the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital under the Cradles of Hope programme in May 2007 by providing the newborn intensive care unit with up-to-date medical equipment for nursing preterm infants. Over the period of partnership, the total investment into the Cradles of Hope centre in Chernivtsi has amounted more than UAH 1.56 million.

Oleksii Kozma, head of the newborn intensive care unit: “The core compressor enables operation of the artificial lungs at the newborn intensive care unit. It would have been impossible to save most of our patients without such devices, as preterm babies cannot breath by themselves, and it is this very medical equipment that assumes this vital function for them. We are sincerely grateful to the Foundation for the many years of cooperation and continuous technical and training support”.

Overall, 2 458 infants received help in the newborn intensive care unit over the period of cooperation with the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital under the Cradles of Hope project (2007 – 1st quarter 2018). According to the centre specialists, 2 149 babies were saved thanks, among other factors, to the equipment supplied by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
