The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has purchased expendables and covered the cost of equipment repair for the newborn intensive care unit at the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided help to the intensive care unit of the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital as part of technical support for the Cradles of Hope partner centres. In particular, it has covered the cost of repair of breath support equipment and purchased expendables for artificial lungs and their monitors, amounting UAH 63 711.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started cooperation with this establishment in May 2007 by equipping the newborn intensive care unit with up-to-date medical devices to provide special care for preterm babies. The overall investment in the Chenivtsi Cradles of Hope centre over the period of partnership has amounted to almost UAH 1.5 million. In addition to equipping the newborn intensive care unit, the Foundation’s funds have also been used to equip the centralized power and gas supply system.

Oleksii Kozma, head of the newborn intensive care unit: “The Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital was among the first to become the Cradles of Hope project partner. The medical equipment that was provided to us in 2007 has been operating flawlessly for all these years, and it has been allowing us providing help to 200-250 babies from around the Chernivtsi Oblast every year. This being said, some elements of the equipment, unfortunately, get out of order and need replacement or repair, and we are very thankful that the Victor Pinchuk Foundation was also eager to provide such help.”

Over the period of cooperation with the Chernivtsi Oblast Children’s Clinic Hospital under the Cradles of Hope project (2007 - 3rd quarter 2017), 2 383 babies have received help in the newborn intensive care unit. According to the centre specialists, 2 124 infants were saved thanks, among other factors, to the equipment supplied by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
