Cradles of Hope: NEWS

Infant breath resuscitator purchased for the Cradles of Hope centre in Ivano-Frankivskunder the project “BDayVyklyk: first breath”

Under the charity project “BDayVyklyk: first breath” initiated by Ukrainian Kateryna Sadova with support of the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, funds have been raised and an infant breath resuscitator NeoPuff TM RD-900 was purchased for the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s Cradles of Hope partner centre operating on the base of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Perinatal Centre. The device was commissioned on the 6th of September.

The Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Perinatal Centre is a leading delivery medical facility in the oblast that accommodates all women with heavy obstetrical and gynecological pathologies. As an average, 3400 to 3500 babies are born at the centre every year. 450 to 500 infants receive medical help at the infant intensive care unit every year, including almost 70% who are babies who were born preterm and need a sophisticated and long treatment.

The Neopuff device is intended to treat infants’ breath disorders and allows carrying out the Sustained Lung Inflation manoeuvre that is widely used in European countries and in the US. It has already proven its high efficiency, especially to provide breath support to newborns at the first minutes of living onsite in delivery rooms.  The device cost is UAH 125 365.

Availability of such devices in the largest possible number of maternity houses will allow spreading this advanced treatment technique across the country and will provide doctors with vast professional possibilities to ensure a timely and good quality help to preterm newborns.
