Victor Pinchuk Foundation repaired equipment of the “Cradles of Hope” center at Chernihiv City Maternity Hospital

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation repaired two compressors, ventilator and monitoring equipment at the intensive care unit of Chernihiv City Maternity Hospital having covered the cost of repair totaling UAH 50 845.80.

Chernihiv City Maternity Hospital was the medical institution where in June 2006 the Victor Pinchuk Foundation first launched its project to create a nationwide network of neonatal center “Cradles of Hope”.

Over a period of eight years of close cooperation, the intensive care unit was completely refurbished at the expense of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. The center has transformed into a modern department capable of providing a whole new level of medical care to children, using advanced technologies adopted worldwide. Also, it is allowed to increase the actual number of beds in the unit and treat up to 12 newborns at the same time, which is extremely important in times when the number of patients grows every year. Doctors and nurses of the department regularly participate in all educational activities organized by the Foundation within the “Cradles of Hope” project.

Overall, 35 830 infants have been born over the period of partnership with Chernihiv City Maternity Hospital under the “Cradles of Hope” program (2006-2014); 2 713 of them were patients of the intensive care unit. According to doctors of the center, 1 676 babies were saved thanks to, among other things, the equipment provided by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
