The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided equipment for the 26th Neonatal Center "Cradles of Hope" in Dnipropetrovsk in the frame of the “New Life” project

Continuing implementation of the program “Cradles of Hope”, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation within the framework of the government project “New Life”, has provided equipment for the 26th neonatal centre “Cradles of Hope” in Dnipropetrovsk. The centre has been opened on June 21, 2012, in the intensive care department of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Perinatal Center. The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and the founder of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

“We are opening the 6th perinatal center in two years. The President made a decision to open perinatal centers in every regional center and in every city. Implementation of this national project will significantly reduce child mortality”, Mykola Azarov emphasized. He also stated that this program is scheduled for completion next year.

At the opening ceremony Victor Pinchuk said: "I am proud that our Foundation has joined the initiative of the President of Ukraine. This is one of the best examples of cooperation between state and business. This is the type of cooperation that creates a miracle - saving lives."

"Perinatal center in Dnepropetrovsk is special to me. Not only because it is my hometown. Six years ago the Foundation opened the first “Cradles of Hope” in the 3rd Municipal Hospital. So, it’s another center in Dnepropetrovsk", he said.

Opening the center in Dnipropetrovsk is continuing partnership of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the National Agency for Investment and Management of National Projects. In 2011 the Victor Pinchuk Foundation became a partner of the national project “New Life” initiated by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, and made a commitment to supply intensive care units for newborns with modern medical equipment, allocating for this purpose UAH 100 million.

The overall cost of the medical and computer equipment handed over to the Dnipropetrovsk center totals UAH 4 166 285.58

In 2012 four perinatal centers have already been opened in the cities of Kirovograd, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Donetsk.
