As part of the "New Life" project , the Victor Pinchuk Foundation has finished equipping Neonatal Centre "Cradles of Hope" in Donetsk

Continuing implementation of the “Cradles of Hope” program, Victor Pinchuk Foundation in partnership with the national project “New Life” has finished equipping neonatal centre “Cradles of Hope” based at the Donetsk Regional Center for Mother and Child. The official opening of the centre has taken place on Monday, May 14, 2012. The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine Raisa Bohatyriova, and Victor Pinchuk, founder of the eponymous charitable foundation, attended the opening ceremony.

Viktor Yanukovych: "Creating perinatal centers in Ukraine is a priority of our state policy. In the shortest possible period of time we must create a system of perinatal centers that would provide advanced treatment and care for mother and child and, eventually, reduce the mortality of our young mothers and children. I came here to join the like-minded people, who through action, not empty words, are dealing with this problem".

Victor Pinchuk: "We are proud to be partner in such a project. We finance creation of rehabilitation centers, which are referred to by doctors as “the heart” of such projects. It is rehabilitation centers that provide care for children with birth weight of 500 grams. Nevertheless, they have a chance to survive and be healthy. Partnership between government and business – is a key to success and an answer to critical social problems. This is a great honor for us. We will be proud to continue partnership in the project "New Life".

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started cooperation with Donetsk Regional Center for Mother and Child in November 2007, opening the “Cradles of Hope” Neonatal Center at the Donetsk Regional Center for Mother and Child. Over the period from 2007 through to 2010, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation equipped the Center with respiratory equipment, transportation incubator and ultrasound machine for newborns, as well and other equipment worth UAH 976 135.60 in total.

In 2011 the Victor Pinchuk Foundation became a partner of the national project “New Life” initiated by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, and made a commitment to supply intensive care units for newborns with modern medical equipment, allocating for this purpose UAH 100 million.

Opening the center in Donetsk is continuing partnership of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the National Agency for Investment and Management of National Projects. The overall value of the medical and computer equipment handed over to the Cradles of Hope Neonatal Centers in 2011 in partnership with the "New Life" project totals UAH 2 712 168. 84
