The Victor Pinchuk Foundation provided assistance to three healthcare institutions treating newborn babies

For over 20 years, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation has been systematically supporting partner centres of the Cradles of Hope programme, which are engaged in nursing and treating newborn babies. Every year, the Foundation allocates funds for the purchase and repair of equipment, components and consumables to ensure uninterrupted operation. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, this assistance has been significantly increased, especially for medical facilities that continue to operate in close proximity to the front line or provide assistance to large numbers of internally displaced persons.

Another challenge for the functioning of partner perinatal centres has been the significant damage to Ukraine's energy system as a result of Russian shelling. The process of nursing and treating premature babies is long, complex and requires a large amount of high-tech equipment, such as ventilators, incubators, monitors, etc. In addition, heat loss has a very negative impact on the health of young patients.

Recently, the Foundation donated charging stations and heaters to three medical facilities treating newborns in Dnipro, Kyiv and Cherkasy to ensure a stable power supply for medical equipment and heat in the premises. This was done as part of a joint charitable initiative, the Ukraine Relief Fund, founded by Victor and Elena Pinchuk and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Eric and Wendy Schmidt and Schmidt Futures, Robert F. Smith and Vista Equity Partners, the Minderoo Foundation of Andrew and Nicola Forrest, Bill Ford and the General Atlantic Foundation.

In particular, three powerful charging stations and three convector heaters were purchased for the anaesthesiology and intensive care unit for newborns at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Family Health Medical Centre, and two powerful charging stations and two convector heaters were purchased for the neonatal care unit at the Cherkasy City Maternity Hospital ‘Mother and Child Centre’ , two powerful charging stations and two convector heaters were purchased, and for the post-intensive care and nursing department for premature babies at the National Children's Specialised Hospital ‘Okhmatdyt’ of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, six infrared heaters were purchased.

n total, as part of the joint charity initiative Ukraine Relief Fund, 322 units of medical and other equipment and consumables worth a total of UAH 70 million were purchased for medical facilities providing care to newborn babies between 2022 and February 2026. In particular, 67 medical institutions throughout Ukraine received 167 heating systems for newborns.
