The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided assistance to the Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Center
The Victor Pinchuk Foundation, as part of its systemic support of the Cradles of Hope partner centers, has paid for the repair of an ultrasound diagnostic machine, two artificial lung ventilation devices, three open resuscitation systems and purchased sensors, cables and injectors for the equipment in the anaesthesiology department with intensive care units for newborns and premature infants of the Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Centre. The cost of repairs and components amounted to UAH 174,633.
The Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Center was established in 2007 on the basis of the Khmelnytsky Maternity Hospital and provides all types of high-tech medical care in obstetrics, gynecology, neonatology, newborn surgery, as well as outpatient, consultative, diagnostic and medical rehabilitation care for women and young children. To this day, this facility remains one of the largest in the region in terms of the number of deliveries per year (almost 3000 deliveries). The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides highly qualified care to all newborns with perinatal pathology living in Khmelnytsky and Khmelnytsky Oblast, as well as from all over Ukraine, and under martial law - to patients from the occupied territories and internally displaced persons. On average, the department treats 250-280 children a year.
The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started its cooperation with the Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Centre in March 2008 by opening the 13th Cradles of Hope partner centre on the premises of the anaesthesiology department with intensive care units for newborns and premature babies. The Foundation has allocated UAH 817,311.00 for modern medical equipment for nursing preterm babies, which was used to purchase and transfer to the said department artificial lung ventilation devices, an incubator, a resuscitation table, monitoring equipment that allows to control the vital functions of patients, infusion pumps, aspirators, an ultrasound machine and a computer with auxiliary equipment, etc. Since then, the Foundation has been systematically assisting the department in ensuring the equipment's operability, timely repairs and replacement of components. In addition, the department's specialists regularly participate in all educational programs of the Cradles of Hope project.
"It is especially valuable for us that among other important charitable projects aimed at helping our Defenders, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation continues to pay significant attention to the health of our newborns. This help is not just equipment, it is stability in critical moments, the ability to save lives, support for doctors and hope for parents," said Viktoria Tereshchuk, head of the neonatal anesthesiology and intensive care unit.
In total, over the period of cooperation with the Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Center under the Cradles of Hope project (years 2008-2024), 48,697 babies were born at the facility, and 4,701 newborns received medical care in the anesthesiology and intensive care unit. According to the centre's specialists, the lives of 4,568 babies have been saved, including 4,334 thanks to the medical equipment provided by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
