The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has covered the cost of repairing equipment and supplies for the Cradles of Hope centre in Chernivtsi
The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided support to the Cradles of Hope partner centre operating at the Chernivtsi Oblast Children's Clinical Hospital by covering the cost of repairing equipment and supplies for the newborn intensive care unit in the amount of UAH 167,160.
As part of its technical support to the Cradles of Hope partner centres, the Foundation regularly helps the neonatal intensive care unit of the Chernivtsi Oblast Children's Clinical Hospital, where about 200 babies receive medical care every year. This time, to ensure uninterrupted operation of the equipment and provide timely and high-quality care to the babies of the Chernivtsi Cradles of Hope, 4 electric suction pumps, a capnograph, a ventilator were repaired and 5 temperature sensors, 5 flow sensors and 5 electrical adapters for ventilators were delivered.
With the help of the received components, we will be able to properly humidify the breathing mixture, measure the exhaled carbon dioxide level and effectively perform artificial lung ventilation, maintain the infants‘ body temperature and sanitise the respiratory tract,’ says the unit's head Oleksiy Kozma. ‘All these components of intensive care are very important not only for saving the babies’ lives but also for ensuring their further quality.
The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started its cooperation with this medical institution in May 2007 by equipping the neonatal intensive care unit with modern equipment for nursing preterm infants. In addition, the Foundation's funds were used to set up a central system for supplying medical gases. Over the entire period of the partnership, the total investment in the Chernivtsi Cradles of Hope totalled over UAH 1.9 million.
Since the beginning of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, almost 600 children have been patients of the neonatal intensive care unit. In 2022-2023, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, together with partners of the Ukraine Relief Fund, purchased a pumping station for the Chernivtsi Oblast Children's Clinical Hospital to ensure uninterrupted water supply and donated 2 baby heating systems worth UAH 562,694.
In total, over the period of cooperation with the Chernivtsi Oblast Children's Clinical Hospital under the Cradles of Hope project (2007-2023), according to the centre's specialists, 2,608 children have been saved thanks to the medical equipment provided by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
