Ukrainian pavilion featuring the Deciding Your Tomorrow exhibition has been named the best pavilion at the WEF

Ukrainian pavilion in Ukraine House Davos, featuring the Deciding Your Tomorrow exhibition organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, has been named the best pavilion at the World Economic Forum by POLITICO

The exhibition featured a stunning map of Russian war crimes, as well as three screens showing TikTok videos by Ukrainian bloggers about people living their lives, finding joy, love and moments of happiness despite constant threat.

On January 16-18, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the PinchukArtCentre, in cooperation with the Office of the President of Ukraine, hosted the Deciding Your Tomorrow project on the occasion of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The Deciding Your Tomorrow project is an immersive visual and intellectual experience, and space for discussion and debate. Four contemporary Ukrainian artists depict Ukraine through a series of compelling video portraits and stories.  An exhibition portraying Ukrainians as they defend freedom, endure losses, and achieve victories. Amid constant threat, it showcases people definitely living their lives.

The exhibition consists of a seminal film by Ukrainian artist Sai, which looks back at every single day of Ukraine’s defense of life and freedom since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. How much was achieved, how much courage and heroism, but also how much suffering and danger have been present in Ukrainians’ defense of life and freedom since February 24, 2022. This film is complemented by a curated live stream of social media content from Ukraine where people, under attack and mortal threat, defiantly live the lives they want to live and which the soldiers are defending at the front. Also, an updated map and statistics of Russian war crimes in Ukraine show how many lives have been destroyed by Russia’s war of aggression with genocidal intent.

In addition, Ukrainian artists Yarema Malashchuk and Roman Khimei present moving portraits of Ukrainian children who were kidnapped by Russia and returned home safely. Bringing the world’s attention to a systematic war crime Russia commits in Ukraine. At the same time, this work is a homage to all children in Ukraine who live under the systematic risk of being taken from their homes.

Another part of the Deciding Your Tomorrow project was a 3-day discussion program (16-18 January) which brought together global thinkers, experts and people from the ground in Ukraine to discuss key aspects of Ukrainians’ defense of life and freedom and offers a chance to revisit what is at stake in Ukraine.
