Innovative rehabilitation centre of the RECOVERY national network founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk opens in Vinnytsya

It’s the region’s biggest rehabilitation centre for the wounded soldiers that operates under the umbrella of the RECOVERY national network founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk. From now on, nearly 1,100 heroes will have access to quality rehabilitation care based on the innovative technologies every year.

This is the fourth rehabilitation facility of the RECOVERY project founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk. Rehabilitation centres of the RECOVERY national network are already operating in Dnipro, Kyiv, and Odesa.

Thanks to an extensive national network and an effective public-private partnership, Ukrainian defenders will be able to recover in the best rehabilitation centres near their places of residence, as the 10 planned RECOVERY centres will be located throughout Ukraine. 

The RECOVERY project's mission is to help our wounded soldiers and develop the rehabilitation sector in Ukraine. This includes building a national network of rehabilitation centres for severely wounded soldiers, running international training programmes for rehabilitation specialists, providing sophisticated prosthetic care to soldiers abroad where this is not possible to do it in the country, and ensuring quality rehabilitation of soldiers in private partner clinics. 

"RECOVERY is a long-term project that provides immediate assistance to wounded soldiers. My wife Olena and I are working to create rehabilitation centres on the sites of state medical institutions so that our defenders can receive the best possible rehabilitation services today. The first stage of the project is essentially physical rehabilitation, but we understand that a large number of wounded Heroes and Heroines will also need psychological rehabilitation. This is just the beginning; we will continue to improve the rehabilitation practices in Ukraine.

Every rescued hero and heroine is a local victory for our doctors, as the rehabilitation centres are their trenches," said Victor Pinchuk, founder of the RECOVERY project.

The RECOVERY project funded a major overhaul of the former balneology department and built a modern rehabilitation space for the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, the RECOVERY Centre. The Centre operates the state-of-the-art simulators for quick and effective rehabilitation of a wide range of injuries, including unique equipment to help wounded soldiers recover from mine blast injuries. High-tech equipment and rehabilitation professionals ensure the maximum comfort for the Ukrainian defenders after recovery.

The first patients are already undergoing treatment and feel the results. To ensure the highest standards of rehabilitation, the centre's doctors are trained on an ongoing basis as part of the project. 

"Since the outbreak of the war, our hospital has faced the challenges of the times and new rehabilitation needs. Thanks to the RECOVERY project, we have gained unprecedented opportunities: a cutting-edge rehabilitation space with first-class equipment of evidence-based quality. Our centre has a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals. Our specialists also received training as part of the project in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa while works on our centre were underway. With a highly skilled team and top-notch equipment, we are now the biggest and most innovative rehabilitation centre in Vinnytsia Oblast," said Svitlana Holodiuk, head physician of the RECOVERY centre.

The patients of the new rehabilitation centre in Vinnytsia are wounded soldiers who have already undergone surgery and therapy. Each of them has their story of injury, hard work on recovery, and plans for the future. 

"I've been serving in the army since 2018. As the war broke   out, we were immediately sent to the front. There were battles, very serious engagements. We were holding the line to the last ditch, in the fields, and were successful. I was injured when we got under artillery fire. Almost a year later, I received a prosthesis. This centre is very modern, has innovative equipment, and I hope it will help me recover faster," said Nazar, one of the first patients at the RECOVERY Centre.

Three new innovative rehabilitation centres for wounded soldiers of the RECOVERY national network in Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipro are already helping soldiers recover from their injuries, using the latest technologies and equipment. In 2023, the national network will launch ten RECOVERY  innovative rehabilitation centre on sites of state hospitals in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk (two centres), Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa (two centres), Rivne, Khmelnytsky, and Cherkasy Oblasts. Every year more than 11,000 patients will be able to benefit from the rehabilitation assistance at RECOVERY centres.
