The Victor Pinchuk Foundation donated 117 patient warming systems to the neonatal intensive care units and post-intensive care units of 46 maternity hospitals and children's hospitals across Ukraine

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has donated 117 patient warming systems (Inspiration Healthcare Limited, UK) worth UAH 21,544,205 to the neonatal intensive care units and post-intensive care units of 46 maternity hospitals and children's hospitals across Ukraine as part of the Ukraine Relief Fund, a joint charitable initiative established by Victor and Olena Pinchuk and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Eric and Wendy Schmidt and Schmidt Futures, Robert F. Smith and Vista Equity Partners, Andrew and Nicola Forrest's Minderoo Foundation, Bill Ford and the General Atlantic Foundation.

Hypothermia of newborns, especially premature infants, is an extremely dangerous factor in nursing and preserving their life and health. Due to the war in Ukraine, doctors often have to rescue babies in very difficult conditions. Room temperature, including in medical help shelters, does not always meet the standards required for this difficult category of patients. Keeping our impatient babies warm is sometimes a real challenge, so the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and its partners could not stay away from this problem.

The IHC-2000 CosyTherm2 patient warming system includes two neonatal mattresses, a temperature sensor and a touchscreen controller. The system is designed to automatically replenish heat loss in neonates and, if necessary, to warm two babies at once.

"Newborn babies, especially those with low body weight, are prone to hypothermia, so it is extremely important for them to maintain a constant body temperature," says Lyudmyla Yusyuk, head of the neonatal intensive care unit at the Sumy Regional Children's Clinical Hospital. "To prevent hypothermia during treatment, transportation and nursing, we use various sources of radiant heat, which are especially important in the current difficult situation. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation's timely assistance is very important and we are sincerely grateful for it."
