Jeff Koons’ Balloon Monkey (Magenta), presented by Victor and Olena Pinchuk, sold at Christie’s. $ 11.5 million of raised funds to be directed to humanitarian aid for Ukraine

On 28 June 2022, Jeff Koons' seminal sculpture Balloon Monkey (Magenta) (2006-2013), presented by Victor and Elena Pinchuk, was sold at Christie's auction.

All raised funds of US$ 11.5 million will be directed for humanitarian aid for Ukraine. In particular, the proceeds from the sale will be used to assist soldiers and civilians gravely wounded by war who urgently require prosthetics, medical treatment and rehabilitation to recover as much quality of life as possible.

Since the beginning of the war, as of 27 June 2022, Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded 10,631 civilian casualties in Ukraine: 4,731 (including 339 children) killed and 5,900 (including 614 children) injured. In Ukraine, every day around four children and an estimated 500 soldiers are wounded.
