The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has recorded a lecture on volume assist-control ventilation

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has recorded a video lecture on volume assist-control as one of the main modes of lung ventilation. This video is a follow-up to the online course in respiratory therapy which the Elena Pinchuk Foundation, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine and the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) designed in April 2020. The authors of the new lecture are professors at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care at the Platon Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education: Lesya Zgrzheblovska, Chief Resident at the General Intensive Care Unit of the Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Hospital, and Unit Head Igor Malysh.

The video will be of use to anaesthesiologists and critical care physicians in intensive care units, including in medical institutions treating patients with severe coronavirus infection cases.

The video episodes describe how ventilators are built and how to care about them, their initial settings and how to customize them to patients' needs, what ventilation tactics to use, why it is important to humidify the oxygen-air mixture during ventilation, and what the basic modes of ventilation are.
