Victor Pinchuk Foundation has funded cost of medical equipment maintenance and expendables for Cradles of Hope centre in Kropyvnytsky

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has funded the cost of maintenance of artificial lung ventilation machines, infusion pumps and patient’s vital functions monitor, and purchased breath equipment contours for the Cradles of Hope centre operating on the base of the neonatal intensive care unit at the Kirovograd Oblast Perinatal Centre. The overall cost of the medical equipment maintenance works and expendables has amounted UAH 79 686.00.

The Kirovograd Oblast Perinatal Centre has been operating as part of the communal non-profit enterprise “Kirovograd Oblast Hospital” since January 2012, and assumes the major load in the region for deliveries from higher risk group women and preterm deliveries. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation contributed to the creation of this centre by providing the neonatal intensive care unit with up-to-date medical equipment worth more than UAH 4.2 million as part of implementation of the philanthropic project Cradles of Hope.

Every year, nearly 1500 babies are born at the centre, and help to the most serious patients is provided at the neonatal intensive care unit that hosts 150 infants annually.

“Thanks to the Cradles of Hope project, we have a possibility to work with up-to-date high-tech medical equipment for breathing support, monitoring, diagnostic assessment and treatment measures, - head of the neonatal intensive care unit Kateryna Pyzina says. – The equipment is used non-stop, and regularly requires maintenance and replacement of specific elements. Unfortunately, in a situation of limited state funding, this is not always possible to do it promptly and with our own effort, and therefore, help from the Foundation in covering the maintenance works is essential to us and our little patients.”

Overall, in the years of cooperation with the Kirovograd Oblast Hospital’s Perinatal Centre under the Cradles of Hope project (2012-2020), a total of 13 261 babies have been born at this medical institution, including 1 250 newborns who received medical assistance at the intensive care unit. According to the centre's staff, 1 090 babies have been saved thanks to the medical equipment provided by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
