Elena and Victor Pinchuk allot additional UAH 90 million for healthcare and education charity programs
On the eve of St. Nicholas Day, Elena and Victor Pinchuk have announced their decision to allot additional UAH 90 million for the further development of healthcare and education philanthropic programs. The funds will be used to expand projects implemented by Elena and Victor Pinchuk during the past decade.
“Our philanthropic activity has always been directed, first of all, at a new generation. Healthcare and education have always been and remain our priority areas,” remarked Elena and Victor Pinchuk. “But the current year is a special one for us. In December both of us celebrate our birthdays – right before St. Nicholas’s Day, a patron saint of children and students. Thus the idea was born: to add together the “good round numbers” of our anniversaries and allot additional UAH 90 million for the development of programs that are under direct patronage of St. Nicholas.”
The additional funding will serve to expand the awareness-raising and preventive programs of Elena Pinchuk’s ANTIADS Foundation, aimed at reducing the rate of new HIV infections. Also, expenses will be increased for direct aid to HIV-positive people to improve their quality of life and reduce the risk of virus transmission.
The Victor Pinchuk Foundation project “Cradles of Hope,” launched in 2006, will be expanded by contributing to setting up a national network of ‘third level’ perinatal centres. Also, more scholarships will be awarded by the WorldWideStudies scholarship program to help the best Ukrainian students to get a Master’s degree in the world’s best universities.
