Winners of "Art-Summer in Venice with PinchukArtCentre" Quiz Program have started off for Venice

Today, August 16, a the winners of "Art-Summer in Venice with PinchukArtCentre" Quiz Program have left for Venice to visit the 52nd Biennale, the oldest and the most prestigious exhibition of contemporary art. During three-day tour the quiz winners visit the Ukrainian pavilion represented by PinchukArtCentre and the national pavilions of different countries located at the central alley of the Jardini Park as well as the major part of the exhibition in Arsenal.

A professional curator will accompany the winners. The winners will also have an opportunity to walk around the old part of Venice. A camera crew of "Novy" TV Channel and a special correspondent of "Hit-FM" Radio-Station Nikolai Matrosov will also accompany the winners. On August 16 and 17, the first and the second day of the tour, "Hit-FM" Radio-Station will make live broadcasts from over Venice to cover the developments of the tour.

The 52nd Venice Biennale has become a landmark event for Ukraine. The Ukrainian Pavilion exhibition has been ranked among the three top events at the Biennale. "I believe it is important that these people will share the success of their country", - said Claire Staebler, art-director of PinchukArtCentre. They will be able to look at it and assess it, to look at the exhibitions presented by other countries, and to look at ordinary things in a different way and to determine their own place within the world's culture."
The program was conducted from June 13 to June 26 by PinchukArtCentre jointly with "Novy Channel", "M1" entertainment Channel, "Hit FM" radio-station and "Fakty and Komentari" newspaper. To become a winner of the Quiz Program the contenders had to show their knowledge in history of exhibitions showcased in PinchukArtCentre, and also knowledge of the works and interesting facts form biographies of the Artists representing Ukraine at 52nd Venice Biennale.

The Ukrainian Pavilion exhibition titled "A Poem about an Inland Sea" showcases the works produced by eight artists from Ukraine, Germany, and the USA: Sergey Bratkov, Alexander Hnyliytskiy, Lesya Zayats, Boris Mikhailov, Jurgen Teller, Mark Tichner, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Dzine.
The 52nd Venice Biennale will be open for visitors until November 21. The winner-country is to be determined on the last day of the exhibition.

PinchukArtCentre is one of the projects of Victor Pinchuk Foundation in a cultural filed. One of the main goals of PinchukArtCentre activity is modernization of the existing Ukrainian art area. PinchukArtCentre develops an ambitious international exhibition program including local and international artists. More than 130 000 people have visited the PinchukArtCentre since its official opening date (September of 2006).
