Exhibition of photos from the Elton John’s collection closed

Exhibition "An Instinctive Eye: A Selection of Contemporary Photographs from the Sir Elton John Collection" closed on August 12. It was working June 16 through August 12, 2007 with a number of visitors totaling more than 45 thousands.

Exhibition displayed a unique selection from Sir Elton John's collection consisting of 148 photographs made by 24 photographers. The photographs displayed in PinchukArtCentre have never been demonstrated before. Most of the photographs have been brought to Kyiv from Elton John's apartment in Atlanta and the rest from his house in London.

According to Jane Jackson, director of the collection, Elton John was worrying whether Ukrainians would accept the photograph he had selected for the Exhibition since "these photographs for him are not just a part of his collection but something very intimate". Now, Elton John is very happy that the Exhibition was so warmly received in Ukraine.

Jane Jackson also said that the photographs shown in Kyiv would be displayed in Baltic Centre (New Castle, England) in September. According to her, David Furnish, Elton John's partner, was so inspired by the success in PinchukArtCentre that he was going to show the exhibition in other cities of the world as well.
