The 9th Davos Ukrainian Lunch “Ukraine: East or West – The Wrong Dilemma?” will take place in Davos on January 25

On Friday, January 25, 2013, at 12:30 (GMT+1) in Davos (Switzerland), the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and international investment advisory group EastOne will hold the 9th Davos Ukrainian Lunch organized at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.

How will Ukraine develop relations with its neighbors, the EU and the Customs Union? What is the vision of the leaders of Ukraine and of Wider Europe of the future of the country? What steps will the new government and the parliament elected in October 2012 take? These are the main questions for interactive panel discussion at the 9th Davos Ukrainian Lunch entitled “Ukraine: East or West – The Wrong Dilemma?”.

Among the speakers will be Yuriy Boyko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine; Leonid Kozhara, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; Kairat Kelimbetov, Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Javier Solana, President of ESADE Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics; Arseniy Yatseniuk, Leader, Party “Batkivshchyna”, member of the Ukrainian Parliament; Vitali Klitschko, Leader, Party “Udar”, member of the Ukrainian Parliament; Alexei Kudrin, Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, St. Petersburg State University, Board Trustees Head of the Fund of the European University in St. Petersburg.

Among the guests of honor who will give a comment are Herman Gref, Chairman of the Management Board & CEO, Sberbank and Petro Poroshenko, member of the Ukrainian Parliament. Lord Risby, Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council (GAC) on Ukraine will present the views of the GAC.

Chrystia Freeland, Digital Editor, Thomson Reuters will moderate the event.

Around 300 leaders from business, politics, the third sector and journalists will attend the event organized annually since 2005 by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and international investment advisory group EastOne at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.

The Davos Ukrainian Lunch is the most preeminent international gathering dedicated to Ukraine, held annually in Davos at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. A day earlier, on Thursday, 24 January, 2013 at 12:30 (GMT+1) in Davos (Switzerland) the Victor Pinchuk Foundation will be holding its 6th Davos Philanthropic Roundtable "RevolutiOnline.edu - Online Education Changing the World" on the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.

The panel will bring together Thomas Friedman, Foreign Affairs columnist, The New York Times (moderator); Bill Gates, Co-Chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Rafael Reif, President, MIT; Larry Summers, President Emeritus, Harvard University; Daphne Koller, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Coursera; Sebastian Thrun, Founder, Udacity; Peter Thiel, Partner, Founders Fund; Salman Khan, Founder, Khan Academy (by TV link); and
Jimmy Wales, Founder, Wikipedia.

Speakers and participants will discuss the strategies that philanthropists are using to expand and accelerate online education to give millions of people access to high level education and the chance to a better life.
