On Thursday, 24 January, 2013 at 12:30 (GMT+1) in Davos (Switzerland) at the Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel the Victor Pinchuk Foundation will hold its 6th Davos Philanthropic Roundtable "RevolutiOnline.edu - Online Education Changing the World" on the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.

The panel will bring together Thomas Friedman, Foreign Affairs columnist, The New York Times (moderator); Bill Gates, Co-Chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Rafael Reif, President, MIT; Larry Summers, President Emeritus, Harvard University; Daphne Koller, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Coursera; Sebastian Thrun, Founder, Udacity; Peter Thiel, Partner, Founders Fund; Salman Khan, Founder, Khan Academy (by TV link); and Jimmy Wales, Founder, Wikipedia.

Speakers and participants will discuss the strategies that philanthropists are using to expand and accelerate online education to give millions of people access to high level education and the chance to a better life. Online education will change educational institutions, the nature of education, and access to education radically. The discussion will also focus on how philanthropic resources and technology are being integrated to foster this growing revolution in education.

About 300 leaders from the fields of philanthropy, business, politics and media are expected to attend the event.

The Philanthropic Roundtable is organized each year at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum to bring together the world’s most renowned philanthropists and leaders from politics, the business community and the non-profit sector. Roundtable discussions address state-of-the-art approaches to problem-solving and seek to inspire the new global philanthropists of the future.

Background information

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation is an international, private, non-partisan, philanthropic foundation based in Ukraine. Victor and Olena Pinchuk expand RECOVERY network with opening of 19th rehabilitation center for military personnel in Kyiv

The national RECOVERY network, founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk to support Ukraine’s Security and Defense Forces, continues to expand. A 19th innovative rehabilitation center for Ukraine’s servicemen and servicewomen has opened in Kyiv. Nearly 1,000 military personnel will be able to receive free rehabilitation services here each year.



The 12th mental health center of the nationwide RETURNING network opens in Zhytomyr

A comfortable, inclusive, and modern RETURNING (ПОВЕРНЕННЯ - ukr.) mental health center for service members, veterans, and their families has opened in Zhytomyr. This is the twelfth center in the nationwide network founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk to support the mental health of Ukraine’s defenders, veterans, and their families affected by the psychological consequences of war.



The Victor Pinchuk Foundation provided assistance to three healthcare institutions treating newborn babies

For over 20 years, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation has been systematically supporting partner centres of the Cradles of Hope programme, which are engaged in nursing and treating newborn babies. Every year, the Foundation allocates funds for the purchase and repair of equipment, components and consumables to ensure uninterrupted operation. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, this assistance has been significantly increased, especially for medical facilities that continue to operate in close proximity to the front line or provide assistance to large numbers of internally displaced persons.
