On April 4th in Kiev Former IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn to give a public lecture on the future of the global economy organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation

On Wednesday, 4 April, 2012 in Kiev (Ukraine), the former Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Dominique Strauss-Kahn will give a public lecture to Ukrainian students on future of the global economy and its implications on Europe and Ukraine.

More than 300 students, as well as businessmen, politicians and experts are to attend the lecture and to debate with the speaker.

Victor Pinchuk, founder of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, declared: “Mr Strauss-Kahn’s contribution to the understanding and handling of the 2008 financial crisis is quite significant, and it is a great opportunity for the students and decision makers of our country to tackle current issues with him.”

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation regularly invites world renowned politicians, thinkers and public figures to Ukraine to discuss challenges facing the world and Ukraine. By organizing such a dialogue between world leaders, experts and Ukrainian students, the Foundation wishes to contribute to fostering a new generation of responsible leaders.

In previous years, lectures were attended by 250-300 students each from more than 50 Ukrainian universities, among them many scholarship holders of the Foundation’s Zavtra.UA and WorldWideStudies programs.

Among the speakers were: Professor of International Political Economy at Johns Hopkins University Francis Fukuyama; 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhhamad Yunus; James Wolfensohn, 9th President of the World Bank Group; Colin Powell, 65th US Secretary of State; former High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union and Secretary General of NATO Javier Solana; former Vice Chancellor of Germany Joschka Fischer; the 42nd President of the United States Bill Clinton; President of Israel Shimon Peres, former Prime minister of Great Britain Tony Blair, and others.

Victor Pinchuk Foundation

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation is an international, private, non-partisan, philanthropic foundation based in Ukraine. The Foundation was established in 2006 by businessman and public figure Victor Pinchuk. Its goal is to empower future generations to become the change-makers of tomorrow. The Foundation is a member of the European Foundation Center and the Ukrainian Grantmakers Forum. It cooperates with the Clinton Global Initiative, the Brookings Institution, the Peterson Institute for International Economics and other non-governmental organisations.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided support to three ‘Cradle of Hope’ partner centres in Sumy, Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has paid for equipment repairs and purchased components for the neonatal intensive care units of three ‘Cradle of Hope’ partner centres based at the Sumy Regional Clinical Perinatal Centre, the Zhytomyr Regional Perinatal Centre and the Chernivtsi Regional Children’s Hospital, at a total cost of 420,000 hryvnias.

A mental health center of the RETURNING network, founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk, has opened in Odesa

The RETURNING (ukr. ПОВЕРНЕННЯ) mental health center in Odesa will provide free, professional psychological support to more than 4,000 service members, veterans, and their family members each year. The RETURNING project was founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk to support the mental health of Ukraine’s defenders, veterans, and their families affected by the psychological consequences of the war caused by Russian aggression.
