As part of the "New Life" project , the Victor Pinchuk Foundation has provided equipment for the 23rd Neonatal Centre "Cradles of Hope" opened in Kirovohrad

Continuing implementation of the program “Cradles of Hope”, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation within the framework of the government project “New Life”, has provided equipment for the 23rd neonatal centre “Cradles of Hope” opened in Kirovohrad. The overall cost of the medical and computer equipment handed over to the centre totals UAH 4 223 671.00. This centre has opened on January 31, 2012, in Kirovohrad and is based in a newly formed perinatal centre of the regional hospital.

In 2011 the Victor Pinchuk Foundation became a partner in the national project “New Life” initiated by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and made a commitment to supply intensive care units for newborns with modern medical equipment, allocating for this purpose UAH 100 million.

Victor Pinchuk: “When state authorities and business unite their efforts, it helps achieve progress in any project for the benefit of the country. Today we are doing an important work, since Ukraine cannot have new economy, new technologies, and new prospects without new generation. We believe that “New Life” project, along with the “Cradles of Hope”, will be gaining momentum, strengthening the foundation of the future life.

It’s hard to find a greater cause than saving lives of newborns. This is the reason we’ve joined the initiative of the President of Ukraine.”

Opening the center in Kirovohrad Regional Hospital is the first outcome of partnership of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the National Agency for Investment and management of national projects. In addition to supplying this medical establishment with special equipment, in 2011 the Foundation has also purchased medical equipment for intensive care units of Kharkov Regional Hospital, Donetsk Regional Center for Mother and Child and Kyiv City Maternity Hospital № 7, which will be officially opened soon.

Mykola Shevchuk, chief doctor of Kirovohrad Regional Hospital: “Thanks to the medical equipment supplied by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation for the newborns intensive care department, from now on we’ll be able to apply the latest nursing methods while taking care of infants with extremely low weight, from 500g at birth. Also, we specially appreciate the Foundation’s help in training medical personnel.”
