On Thursday, 26 January, 2012 at 12:30 (GMT+1) in Davos (Switzerland) at the Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel the Victor Pinchuk Foundation will hold its 5th Davos Philanthropic Roundtable “e-philanthropy” on the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.
The event will bring together former UK Prime Minister and Patron of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation Tony Blair; Internet entrepreneur and Founder of DST Yuri Milner; Senior Advisor on Innovation to the US Secretary of State Alec Ross and Executive Chairman of Google Eric Schmidt. Chelsea Clinton, board member of the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative will moderate the discussion.
The panellists will discuss how information and communication technology (ICT) can revolutionize philanthropy. To which extent does the Internet make it easier for everyone to give, become involved and help change the world? How is it transforming the way we interact and support the people near us - and on the other side of the planet? How can this phenomenon be amplified and encouraged? What are the new challenges of philanthropy in a context which by definition is always evolving? Internet thinkers and social leaders have increasingly been pointing out the huge potential of e-philanthropy, and the round table will provide a vision of how this phenomenon will transform our lives.
About 300 leaders from the fields of philanthropy, business, politics and media will attend the event.
