Prospects for development of East European region to be discussed at the Yalta Annual Meeting of YES

A discussion dedicated to the problems and prospects for Eastern Europe development is on the agenda of the 8th Yalta Annual Meeting. Particular attention of the session will be focused on the role of Ukraine in development of the region’s economy and relationships of the Eastern European countries with their largest neighbours – European Union and Russia.

The discussion opening the second plenary day of the Forum will be joined by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, Prime Minister of Moldova Vladimir Filat, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Alexander Babakov.

It was reported that a number of key sessions of the 8th Yalta Annual Meeting will be devoted to the subject of international relations, economic and political processes within "Wider Europe".

In particular, human rights and democracy development in the "Wider Europe" are to be discussed by Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland, president of PACE Mevlut Çavusoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryschenko and MEP Mario David. A separate session devoted to the prospects of Ukraine-EU Association Agreement will feature Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, MEP Marek Siwiec and Elmar Brok, and former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine on European Integration Hryhoriy Nemyrya.

The first plenary day, among other events, will feature debate on “Wider Europe in a Globalized World: Visions of Integration” with First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt and Minister for Economic Development and Trade of Kazakhstan Kairat Kelimbetov as panellists.

STILL JOY – FROM UKRAINE INTO THE WORLD @ BIENNALE ARTE 2026. A Collateral Event at the 61st International Art Exhibition — La Biennale di Venezia. Presented by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the PinchukArtCentre

On 7 May 2026, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the PinchukArtCentre opened the project “Still Joy — From Ukraine Into the World” which is an official Collateral Event of the 61st International Art Exhibition — La Biennale di Venezia. During the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Victor Pinchuk, businessman and philanthropist, founder of the PinchukArtCentre; Tetyana Berezhna, Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy of Ukraine and Minister of Culture of Ukraine; the exhibition’s curators Björn Geldhof, Artistic Director of the PinchukArtCentre, and Oleksandra Pogrebnyak. Hlib Stryzhko, a veteran and marine who returned from Russian captivity, and Yuliia “Phobia” a senior sergeant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, marine and combat medic, also addressed the audience.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the PinchukArtCentre present Still Joy — From Ukraine into the World as an official Collateral Event of the 61st International Art Exhibition — La Biennale di Venezia. It will be held at the Palazzo Contarini Polignac in Venice from May 9th until August 1st, 2026.
