Above 20 000 visitors attended the PinchukArtCentre

Kyiv, 16 November 2006

Since the PinchukArtCentre opening in Kyiv, more than 22 000 visitors have attended the "New Space" exhibition. According to Dmitry Logvin, the PinchukArtCentre director, the attendance peak falls on week-ends - the number of visitors on Saturday and Sunday counts above 1500 persons.

 ‘We expected an intense interest to our exhibition because the opening of the Centre is undoubtedly a landmark event for Ukraine', - Logvin noted, ‘and we are very pleased that a a great part of visitors are young people those who will really live in the modern Ukraine. The modern Ukraine is becoming a part of Europe, but it's not enough to learn foreign languages to become Europeans, one should understand the language of contemporary art as well'.

Dmitry Logvin has informed that the entry to the exhibition is free, as before, and added that in a month  the exhibition would close. ‘It will close on 16 December', - he stated, ‘and after that - scan for our announcement'.

The PinchukArtCentre opened in 16 September by the Foundation of Victor Pinchuk "Contemporary art in Ukraine". It is located in downtown Kiev, in an ancient building of Bessarabskaya area. Its total area covers 2500 square meters. The PinchukArtCentre open its first exhibition "New Space" (curators: Nicolas Burriaud, France, and Alexander Solovyov, Ukraine). The exhibition features the artworks of such known foreign and Ukrainian artists as Serghey Bratkov, Alexander Gnilitskiy, Olafur Eliasson, Oleg Kulik, Borys Mykhailov, Sarah Morris, Philippe Parreno, Thomas Ruff, Arsen Savadov, Oleg Tistol, Carsten Holler, Vasyl Tsagolov and others. The visitors could see the works of authors ranked among the most popular modern artists in the world.

Rehabilitation centre of the RECOVERY national network founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk has opened in Dnipro

The RECOVERY innovative rehabilitation centre for wounded soldiers was opened in Dnipro. This is the first centre of the RECOVERY national network founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk. Ten RECOVERY centers will run in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa (two centres), Rivne, Khmelnytsky, and Cherkasy Oblasts. The founders have allocated $11.5 million for the project.
